LOCATING ARTICLES

American History and Life
American History and Life is a complete bibliographic reference to the history of the United States and Canada from prehistory to the present. The database comprises over 450,000 bibliographic entries from over 2,000 journals published worldwide. Coverage includes all key English-language historical journals and selected historical journals from major countries, state and local history journals, and hundreds of journals in the social sciences and humanities. This database also includes approximately 6,000 citations of book and media reviews This database includes informative article summaries and links to many full-text sources.

BAS:Bibliography of Asian Studies
BAS contains over 640,000 records on all subjects (especially in the humanities and the social sciences) pertaining to East, Southeast, and South Asia published worldwide from 1971 to the present. BAS does not provide abstracts or text.

CIAO Columbia International Affairs Online
Columbia University's CIAO is a comprehensive source for theory and research in international affairs. It publishes a wide range of scholarship from 1991 onward that includes working papers from university research institutes, occasional papers series from NGOs, foundation-funded research projects, proceedings from conferences, books, journals and policy briefs. CIAO is also widely-recognized source for teaching materials including original case studies written by leading international affairs experts, course packs of background readings for history and political science classes, and special features like the analysis of a bin Laden recruitment tape with video. CIAO are updated monthly.

CQ Press: Historic Documents
Published annually since 1972, the Historic Documents Series contains 33 volumes of primary sources. The approximately 100 documents per year range from presidential speeches, international agreements, and Supreme Court decisions to U.S. governmental reports, scientific findings, and cultural discussions. Each document is put into context.

Historical Abstracts
Historical Abstracts is a complete reference guide to the history of the world from 1450 to the present, excluding the United States and Canada. This database contains annotated references to information on topics from the Renaissance to the war against terror-over half a million entries in all. This leading bibliography for historical study covers over 2,000 journals published in virtually every major country, and it also includes hundreds of journals in the social sciences and humanities that are of special interest to students of history. In addition, there are approximately 3,000 citations to reviews of historical books, and abstracts of dissertations that are appropriate for historical research. This database includes informative article summaries and links to many full-text sources.

REFERENCE

American National Biography
American National Biography offers portraits of more than 17,400 men and women whose lives have shaped the nation. (Living people are not included.) The ANB Online features illustrations, hyperlinked cross-references, and links to select web sites. Appended to each article is a descriptive bibliography that may include primary sources, biographies, articles, obituaries or monographs about specific aspects of the person's career.

History E-Books
The History E-Book Project is an online collection of over 1000 recent and classic books of major importance to historical studies. (See title list.) The American Council of Learned Societies adds approximately 250 books to its collection annually. These books are also searchable by title, author and subject in CastleCat.

Oxford Reference Online (Link to History)
Search the Oxford University Press history collection of 28 encyclopedias, dictionaries, and companions.  Articles in this highly regarded source include bibliographies and cross references.

Historical Text Archive (HTA)
